FROM SEEDS TO SEAWEED
Fertile sugar kelp (saccharina latissima) is first collected for the spores. In a lab, these small microscopic gametophytes will then grow into tiny baby kelp which will be outplanted on the farm site out in the ocean. Here they will spend the winter months growing to about 2 meters and will be ready for harvest in spring.
